Preparing for a hearing assessment

se-preparer-examen-audition Don’t worry, there’s no need to study for this type of exam! However, you should keep some recommendations in mind.

What is a hearing assessment?

Audiologists use full hearing assessments to check a patient’s auditory system. These examinations can determine amongst others the type and degree of hearing loss.

How should I prepare?

Before taking a hearing test, we recommend resting as you will need to focus for long periods of time. We also recommend resting your ears for 16 hours before the examination. This means avoiding exposure to loud, continuous noises (e.g. construction, lawnmowers, noisy workplaces, etc.). This prevents the test from picking up on temporary hearing loss caused by auditory fatigue from noise.
