AQG

Association québécoise de gérontologie (AQG) was created in 1978. It's a non-profit organization interested in the different aspects of aging.

Its members come from various backgrounds: professional involved in training or research in gerontology, organizations working in the field of services for the elderly, retired people who are involved in different movements to share their knowledge and experience, students and finally volunteers and caregivers.

The Association publishes 4 times a year the magazine "Vie et Vieillissement (Life and Aging)" which aims to show seniors that aging can become a privilege: chronicle about seniors' quality of life, articles of a scientific nature as well as various topics such as retirement, accommodation, drugs, etc.

The AQG is an organization committed to the well-being of seniors, here are its goals:

  • Promote the quality of life of aging people and encourage the quality of services offered to seniors both at home and in institutions or in the community.
  • Raise awareness about ageism for everyone - from the close to the professional - who works with aging people or whose activities have an impact on their living conditions.
  • Promote the training of staff and all people working in the field of gerontology, and the recognition of this training by governments and employers.
  • Promote research and propose pathways for studies in the field of gerontology.
  • Analyze, inspire and criticize government policies and legislation related to the phenomenon of aging.
  • Promote the transfer of knowledge, the flow of information and provoke exchanges between people and groups interested in aging.
  • Collaborate with other groups and associations interested in similar issues.
  • Make the community and individuals aware of their personal aging and the phenomenon of aging.
